Cable entry sealing matters as much as the sensor body. If it’s going to be fully submerged or buried in soil, you want a potted or welded gland rather than a simple grommet. Ask the supplier whether the cell has been endurance-tested under a water column. Also consider whether you need a temperature reading integrated—vibrating wire cells usually have a thermistor, which helps correct for temperature effects on the structure itself.
Yes, many of our cells can be built with an onboard amplifier or a digital module, giving you RS-485 or 4–20 mA. It’s a bit more upfront cost but saves time on the site if your data acquisition system doesn’t handle low-level strain signals well. Let us know what logger or PLC you’re using; we can often match the interface.
Simple modifications—like a different thread or added connector—usually add about a week to the standard lead time. A fully custom geometry or capacity not in our normal range might take a few weeks of engineering and a prototype run. It depends on the loading history and environment. For a cell that’s been continuously loaded near its capacity or in a corrosive setting, a calibration check is smart.
